Excessive screen time affects mental health:-

With growing technology, screen addiction is increasing as people spend long hours on smartphones, tablets, computers, and television, affecting mental health and causing psychological effects.

Excessive screen time is a major issue because it can increase anxiety and depression. Constant social media use, scrolling reels, and comparing oneself with others can affect mental health. 

Research suggests that excessive use of screens may cause anxiety and depression, especially among teenagers and young adults who spend more time online scrolling reels or text messages with friends while playing video games. It reduces face-to-face interactions with friends and family. Many people prefer communicating through social media or phone calls rather than meeting in person.

Excessive screen time affects attention and concentration. It can make the brain feel distracted and less focused, making it difficult to concentrate on studies, work, or other important tasks. People who spend a lot of time on their devices may find themselves constantly thinking about checking their phones, playing games, or scrolling through social media, which can reduce their ability to focus on activities that require sustained attention.

To maintain a balance between screen time and offline activities, it is important for mental well-being to go for daily morning walks, regular exercise, and social interaction, and to stay away from mobile phone addiction to get proper sleep. It can help to reduce the negative effects of excessive screen exposure.

Smartphones have become valuable educational tools, but excessive use of any substances or devices is harmful and negatively affects students’ academic performance.

As we all know, after COVID-19, all things like homework and updates were shared on devices, and attending online classes during the period of  lockdown, students are used to devices more and developed phone addiction symptoms, and Parents were like that their children were studying on it, but it leads to misuse of it and that harms their mental wellbeing and mental health.

Distraction during study time gets the mind diverted to notifications, social media addiction, and games. It interrupts concentration. During their studies, they spent more time checking their phones multiple times, Scrolling is that which is distracted them from their studies, and indulged in their phones and spent hours and hours in it that distract from studying.

Reduced learning efficiency as students were multitasking between educational tasks and entertainment, it can decrease information, and every use to of devices more and decrease comprehension and retention of information while we all are more dependent on devices, while they do not like any type of lengthy work, find shortcuts for every work.

Social media addiction leads to poor time management, as we all know. While doing any work or study, if we start using our phone in between work, then while scrolling anything, we totally focus on it, and by finding of new content or new things, hours spent on social media, gaming, or video streaming can reduce the time available for homework and revision.

Sleep cycle disturbed as late night screen use it makes insufficient sleep, and if any person does not get enough sleep or enough type of rest that affects concentration, memory, and classroom performance, there every students is needed to make a screen time and have self control whenever what to do and what not that make students productive and improves academic performance.

Screen addiction among children:-

As we all know, children were get use through of the devices from an early age. We know that developing new technology, it can support learning and creativity from an early age in children, but excessive screen time may cause healthy development and it affects the mind.

As from early age childrens start smartphone dependency and devices student should use there device less and less amount of screen time for teenagers while it is good for development for children get better skills know the early than any other non smartphone user but it delayed social development because from childhood any children were use through of it but not socializing them to persons it affect social development to prevent this you have to make a proper screen time management limits to make the things proper as it were done.

Many of the online games and videos designed to hold attention it takes most of the time of any person induldge in it for more time not done there work on time and that increases the screen time double as normal and this online games redused physical activity when there is less amount of devices the childrens or teenagers are interested in playing or walking outdoor most of the time enjoys outdoor activites rather than indoor games or indoor activity if any of the persons wants to stay away and want to average screen time or make screen time management they should encourage outdoor play.

Social media and mobile addiction:- 

As we all know, social media has been developing day by day, changing the way people communicate, share information, and maintain relationships. The platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and TikTok allow users to connect instantly with friends, family, celebrities around the all over world and countries. These platforms offer many benefit, social media addiction plays a major role in mobile.

People are very much addicted to the devices that they check their phones and social media, even 100 times a day, without knowing that social media addiction is destroying their lives. People are so addicted to it that when opening social media, they are scrolling posts, reels, videos, and stories, and this is affecting their lives, their sleep cycle, their emotional well-being, and their productivity. Social media keeps every person engaged by constantly providing new content, likes, comment, and messages.

As there we know, one common problem that persons were share their best moments of life online, and this thing makes people jealous and feel their own life less exciting or successful. This affects their confidence and happiness.

Many of the people were always online checking new updates and having a type of FOMO that they do not miss any news. Any social updates that were posted on social media.

Social media is not a bad thing, but the problem is that social media addiction takes up a lot of time, affecting sleep, study, work, relationship.

Screen addiction does not happen instantly. It is very difficult to find that person were screen addicted. It is a thing that people think that I have the right to decide how to get out of it. People think this is a normal device use, and I can get off from it very easily, but it become a excessive screen time and harmful usage of the device.

As we all know, this is a very common practice that people take their phone to check any messages or any text from their relatives or friends, but while they take their phone, they don’t know how much time has passed away, and they take their phone for a few minutes, but it makes our hours in scrolling for checking any news or chatting with friends.

After this, all, if anyone wants to check that he or she was addicted from any device when they were far away from their device, they feel very irritated very stress very depressed and that is not a very good screen addiction is now increasing more and more in teenagers, young adults, and mostly working persons because they were most of the time indulge in using their phones, laptops, Computer.

People are now very much addicted to their devices. They were ignoring their work, studies, or responsibilities that were given to them. Working persons were ignoring their work while they were in the office, just checking their phones a hundred times a day for just messaging, scrolling reels, Post Any kind of news. Students were ignoring their studies during their study time. Students mostly use their devices for checking their messages, calls, and any kind of updates from their social media platforms.

Many of the person have screen addiction at bedtime, just checking their phones for a minute, but they don’t know. They spend their time hours and hours without knowing that they want to sleep, it is very late, and that will affect their sleep cycle very much.

Persons were losing interest in their hobbies and outdoor activities because they were very much induldge in their devices and get internet addiction many of the people were just using there phones by ignoring there favourite sports favourite hobbies that they want to become not interested to go out for outdoor activities just using there phone enjoying their life by seeing any other person who is enjoying there life and just posted there happy moments in it not there sad moments.

As people were using their social media more rather than spending time with family and friends. People were enjoying their lives by using social media and their devices, and refused to sit with their family. Make future planning and make any other decisions. They just want their phone and nothing else, not making any plans with their friends, not going for outings, just lying down at their home and enjoying their device, enjoying reels, enjoying video streaming, enjoying posts.

Physical symptoms can also appear, such as headaches, eyes strain, neck pain, and tiredness, if you find it difficult to make a screen time management, even when you want to, it may be a sign of unhealthy digital addicted on devices.

Effects of mobile addiction on sleep quality:-

As we know, many people use their phone or their devices right before sleeping. They just watch videos, scroll reels through social media, play games or chat with their friends while this is a very harmful and seriously affect sleep cycle while you just only taking your phone for minutes, but you don’t know that become hours and hours and that is affect your sleep cycle your sleep quality because you want to sleep at 10 PM daily, but after using your devices or phone, you were very much induldge it and use your phone at that time while you get very much tired and your eyes get dry and while lights were off than phone harmful blue light exposure effects.

The mobile phone addiction or any screen effect sleep quality because the light from phone screen can make it harder for the brain to prepare for sleep because every person should stay away their device one hour before there bed after using phone, if you want to sleep, it is very harder to sleep because at time of your closing your eyes that same thing you watch it on your mobile phone addiction or any screen that will roaming in your mind, and after that, you just pick your phone once again, time to check that after that, what was done like exciting content also keeps the mind active when it should be relaxing because you think in your mind that what was done after that scene or what is next coming in that content, your brain is very much confused about that.

Using mobile phones at the time of sleep, it affects people, and they take longer to fall asleep. They were just thinking about the content that was seen by them, and just thinking about it was done after that wake-up during the night, many time because of seeing the same content thing in their dreams and have care about it. Sleep fewer hours due to work, if any working professional or any student, they want to go early in the morning, but they are asleep. They were sleeping at mid of night and wake up early in morning it affect very much. After getting a sleep of a few hours, the whole day person feel tired, not interested in any work. Always check the place to sleep.

Poor sleep affects, concentration, mood, memory, and overload health to improve sleep. Try putting your phone away at least one hour before bed and creating a relaxing bedtime routine.

Digital detox means taking a break from phones, social media, and other digital devices. It does not mean giving up technology forever. It simply means stepping away from screens for a period of time and improving your digital habits.

While no one is checking, there is a lot of addiction to devices. No one is ready to do their work without any device. Everyone wants to done their work easily in a short form, so digital detox helps very much to every person, as it is a type of detox in which peoples were. Don’t use their phone for 4 to 5 hours and try to stay away from devices when not using their phone. Computers, laptops, television, only enjoy their own company. Get induced with their family and their friends. Small breaks can make a difference. Spending a few hours each day without screens can help refresh the mind and improve overall well-being.

How mobile phones affect family relationships:-

We know that mobile phones help families to stay connected with their family members who are living far away from their family, but excessive phone use can sometimes destroy family relationship. Many family members were sit together in the living room or a dining room, but spent more Time looking at screens then talking to each other when there were limited devices. People are spending more time with each other now there every important conversation may become less frequent, and family member may feel ignored.

If any person is saying anything to anyone, then that person checks their phone, ignores that conversation, or is not interested in it, so everyone feels ignored, like children may feel neglected when parents constantly check their phones. That is the main reason when there is in many Home parents having struggle to communicate with their children due to there parental controls because when their children needs their parents, parents were neglected their children and not interested in their conversation and not listening their children properly, and this is the major and big issue while children were seeing that their own conversation were neglected by parents due to maximum uses of devices by their parents, so children also neglected their conversation and they spend most of their time on screens. Anyone wants to make their family relationship good and healthy. Then at the dining table, each and every family member. should keep away their phone during meals because while having me there, every person have their own time to enjoy their meal by removing their work and just enjoy the food, and that was a good time to conversation between the family. Every family wants to spend time together without screen because it is very necessary to enjoy together because screen is a type of that any person was not enjoying all they don’t have any family member or friend around there at that time screen helps to enjoy every family plans, new activities to play outdoor or go for trips and enjoy with family, go parks and every family member make conversation with their family and enjoy every moment of life.

If you want to have strong family bonds, you have to attention on their both children and parents have to listen. Both conversations and communication make things better.
